What we do with your information.
Casantra is run by people who were students in Lagos recently enough to remember what it feels like to hand your phone number to a stranger and hope for the best. This page says exactly what we hold, why, and how to make us delete it. No clauses designed to be skipped.

The short version
- If you are only browsing hostels, we do not know who you are. There are no analytics, no advertising pixels and no third-party trackers on this site.
- We ask for your name and WhatsApp number at one moment only: when you book an inspection, because somebody has to meet you at the gate.
- We have never sold anyone’s data and will not. We do not run ads.
- Ask us to delete your account and we delete it — not archive it.
Who we are
Casantra Homes is a company registered in Nigeria, RC 9921061, based in Lagos. We list private hostels for students and young professionals, inspect them ourselves, and arrange for you to see them.
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 we are the data controller for everything described here. In plain terms: we are the ones responsible for it, and we are the ones to complain to first.
What we collect, and when
Nothing is collected quietly in the background. Each item below has a moment attached to it, and that moment is always something you chose to do.
While you browse hostels
Nothing that identifies you. We do not run Google Analytics or anything like it, we do not embed advertising pixels, and the fonts are served from our own site rather than from Google. Cloudflare, which serves the site, keeps short-lived security logs that include IP addresses — that is how it blocks attacks, and it happens for every site on the internet.
When you sign in with Google
Your name, your email address, and the account identifier Google gives us. That is the whole of it. We never see your password, your contacts, your Drive, or anything else in your Google account, and we cannot post anything as you.
When you book an inspection
Your full name, your WhatsApp number, how you heard about us, the hostels you shortlisted, and the date and time you picked. The phone number is the part we actually need: it is how we confirm the appointment and how we reach you if a manager moves the time.
If someone referred you
The ambassador code that brought you here, or the name you typed into the box. We hold it so the student who helped you gets credited.
If you apply to be an ambassador
Your university, your faculty, and whatever you write in the notes field. Please do not put anything sensitive in that box — it is a free text field read by our team.
If you message us on WhatsApp
Whatever you send us, held inside WhatsApp itself, under WhatsApp’s own terms rather than ours.
We do not ask for your date of birth, your matriculation number, your bank details, your identity document, or a photograph of you. If anyone contacts you claiming to be from Casantra and asks for those in order to book an inspection, it is not us.
Who else can see it
Four companies, each doing one job, none of them permitted to use your information for their own purposes:
Supabase
Holds the database and runs the sign-in. This is where your name, number and bookings live.
Only to confirm you are who your email says you are, at the moment you sign in.
Resend
Sends the confirmation email after you book. It handles the message, not the database.
Cloudflare
Serves the site and protects it from attack.
These services run on servers outside Nigeria, so your information is stored abroad. The Nigeria Data Protection Act allows this, and we rely on the contractual protections each of those companies offers.
Inside Casantra, only the small number of staff who arrange inspections can see your contact details. When we tell a hostel’s caretaker to expect you, we give them your first name and the time — not your number, not your email, unless you ask us to pass it on.
We would hand over information if a Nigerian court or a regulator with the authority to demand it told us to. That has never happened.
What we never do
Worth stating in the negative, because these are the things people are actually worried about:
- Sell, rent or trade your information. Not to agents, not to landlords, not to anyone.
- Pass your phone number to a hostel manager or a landlord without asking you.
- Add you to a marketing list because you booked an inspection.
- Use your data to work out what you can afford and price differently.
- Keep a record of which hostels you looked at but did not book.
How long we keep it
Booking records stay for two years after the inspection. Housing disputes surface late — a deposit argument in June about a room taken in September — and the record of what you were shown and what you were quoted protects you more often than it protects us.
Your account stays until you ask us to remove it. Ambassador records stay while the arrangement is active, and for two years afterwards because they involve payments we have to account for.
Ask us to delete your account and we delete the row, not a flag on it. What survives is anonymous counting — that a booking happened in Yaba in October — with nothing in it that points back to you.
Your rights
The Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 gives you these, and you do not need a reason to use any of them:
- See it. Ask for a copy of everything we hold about you.
- Correct it. Tell us what is wrong and we will fix it.
- Delete it. Ask us to erase your account and your data.
- Take it with you. Ask for it in a form you can hand to someone else.
- Withdraw consent. Change your mind, at any point, without it affecting anything we did while you had consented.
- Object. Tell us to stop using your information in a particular way.
Email hello@casantrahomes.com and we will answer within 30 days, usually within a few. There is no charge, and asking will never affect how we treat you as a client.
How it is protected
Everything travels over an encrypted connection — that is the padlock in your browser. The database enforces, row by row, that you can only read your own bookings and your own profile; it is not a rule in our code that a bug could get around, it is enforced by the database itself.
The internal details we hold about hostels — street addresses and managers’ phone numbers — sit behind a separate barrier and are never sent to a browser, including yours. Access to the administrative panel is limited to named members of our team.
No system is perfect. If something does go wrong in a way that puts you at risk, we will tell you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission rather than hoping you do not notice.
If you are under 18
Casantra is built for people signing their own tenancy agreements, and the site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you are 16 or 17 and looking for a hostel, please involve a parent or guardian in the booking — a tenancy is a contract, and that part matters more than this page does.
If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
When we change it, we change the date at the top. If a change actually affects what happens to your information — a new service handling your data, a new reason for collecting something — we will say so on the site rather than quietly editing this page.
Asking us something, or complaining
Write to hello@casantrahomes.com, or message +234 808 298 3275 on WhatsApp. A real person reads both.
If we handle it badly, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, which regulates this. You are entitled to go to them directly — you do not have to come to us first.
